Korean Night Clubs

so last saturday nite kinda started like the same ol' shit.  you know...work saturday, go to dinner & drinking, go to sleep, etc.  rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat.  anyways, we went & got our fugu fish & soju on for dinner.  if u don't know, the fugu fish is also called pufferfish back in the states.  it is a highly poisonous fish, but if you eat a little of it it cleanses your system & rids toxins.  KOreans sometimes eat it if there is going to be or has been heavy drinking.  so we knocked back a few bottles of soju & rolled out.  we checked out a new 'western-style' bar & got some imported burr.  budweiser is actually a domestic here.  nothing too exciting to report here...just gettin some snacks & drinking.  we bounce to another bar that we hadn't been to yet either.  it was aiight, more snacks & burrs.  koreans love to snack on stuff while drinking.  it's almost mandatory to buy food at every drinking house.  they served this one thing that looked kind of odd.  i'm not sure how to describe the taste, maybe tangy.  i don't remember too well either.  i digress...found out that these things were pupa.  silkworm larva.  little baby worms & shit.  mmm, tasty.  it kinda makes you slow down ur pace on eating those little suckers.  they weren't really horrible tasting, it was more of a mind thing.  i mean we eat other animals after all.  on the way out of this place, the guy asked if i wanted to got a night club.  i said sure cuz i was taking sunday off to 'work on another project'.

so that's the preface to my night club story.  we get to this place & it was crazy mayne.  music was fucking loud & they had a live group performing.  i'm saying that music was loud & i ain't no pussy, so you know it had to be fucking loud.  i'm also partially deaf from all that time listening to car stereos w/ the boomin bee eh ess ess bass.  my ears were ringing.  the size of the club was quite large...a good couple hundred feet in length & about 1/2 the length in width.  there was an elaborate stage for the group & it was impressive.  they had laser shows & pyro & water & a platform that went up & down to boot.  the production of the show was really well done.  there were many tables on the ground level with plush couches.  there are also rooms lining the walls two levels high.  i imagine u have to pay for those.  the hired help was well dressed in suits and there were many that made sure you were drinking & eating just what u wanted.  on a funny sidenote, children are allowed everywhere.  bars are not a problem & neither are night clubs.  there was a dance floor up front near the stage & ppl of all ages got there boogie on.  age doesn't really matter at these places.  i think ppl make fun of old dudes at clubs in the states, but it's pretty common here.  i was the only was the only white dude, not that it was a problem, just painting the picture.

now that the picture has been painted, time to talk about the goings on there.  think boy band coordination for their outfits & dancing.  obviously not my choice of music, but there was hot girl in the group running around in a bikini & getting soaked with the water aspect of the show.  they really got provocative & stimulated minds.  the girl was stripping off her clothes, which was a plus.  the crowd was looking in awe at times.  specifically when it got to the gay part of the show.  everybody stopped dancing and watched that.  it was weird.  the guys kept peeling off layer by layer until they were in a g-string.  ugh.  they then started touching and caressing each other everywhere as they kept singing.  yes, i mean everywhere.  they left no body parts out for being touched, so it was somewhat odd for me to be watching two korean dudes playing w/ one another's junk.  that was kind of the peak of their duet.  ok, enough of the band for now.

the club had a retractable dome.  they opened it for a few minutes & i thought it was kinda unique to have that.  they didn't leave it open cuz it was about 30 degrees out.  nearly everbody would get up to dance for about 15 minutes & then they'd do a few slow songs & nearly everybody sat down for that.  ppl would get their drink on & freshen up for another round of dancing.  that's the most dancing i've done in a long long time.  when we'd sit back down, we pounded a few beers each time & snacked.  for anybody that says white ppl can't dance & have no rythem...they need to check out the KOreans.  that shit was hilarious.  i was laughin my ass off watchin them.  next time u see me, remind me to dance like them for you.  it's great.

being the lightweight famous guy i am in these parts, ppl would come up to me cuz i kinda stick out.  this one 50 year old came up to me & wanted me to join his group in one of the private rooms i think.  i really couldn't tell, so i sent him to talk to my friend to see what's up.  my friend pulled me away from the guy.  i still have no idea what was said between the two.  later that night, the guy found me again (not difficult) and was trying to get me to go again.  i tried to find out what was going on, but i couldn't hear a damn thing with all that loudass music.

all & all it was koo...drinking basically nonstop from 6pm to 3am.  i can't complain about that.  i slept with my shooz & pants on, but was able to ditch my shirt before cozying into bed.

UPDATE:  saw the guy on monday & he said he was still damaged.  he woke up on sunday to unlock the doors at the site at 8am.  once opened he went into the office & slept for quite a while in the chair.  others mentioned that he was useless all day.  oops, my bad.  that's one thing i've learned with koreans...they will all drink the same amount on the same pace even if it means one of them will get real bombed.  i knew i wasn't waking up early on sunday, so i just kept going at my typical rate.  sorry, i didn't do it to be mean.  just having fun.
