the german countryside

after the fest, it was time to roam the german countryside and checkout some world war shite.  yet again, no need for explanations, let's go to the pictures w/ a few words about each.

this is a photo of the band from the hof-brau haus, which is one of the largets and oldest beer halls in germany.  as a piece of history, adolf hitler used to get drunk here & give speeches prior in between wwI and wwII.  he'd rally a lot of folks, & they'd drunkenly go around town to gain support.  hitler was a disgruntled wwI vet before coming into power.

also at the same place above...it's a vomitorium.  this hand 'sink' is used for puking.  it has a 4" pipe to make sure there is no clogging.  gotta love that.

this is a picture from the eagle's nest, which was hitler's vacation spot in the german countryside.  he'd go here before the big pussy committed suicide.  i had a beer here.  i'm sure many other dignitaries did too.  the weather is nasty there, & the roads are shut down for the the greater part of the year.  it's high in the mountains and overlooks the land.  too bad i didn't get a good view

this is a sniper window from one of the german bunkers.  the stairs are the entrance/exit, so those that invaded got got...well kinda.  we all know the germans lost anyways.

this is outside of the world's first brewery.  it's a benedictine abbey with monks, so the beer has the same haircut.  the name of the place is Weihenstephan and is located in the mountains of bavaria.

we were denied a tour of the brewery even though we got there before the place opened.  this lady was none-to-happy about that and is reiterating the fact the germans lost the war.

this is part of the grounds of the abbey, which is well kept and a very nice place.  it also serves the nectar of the gods.

here is the typical facade in the medieval town of rothenburg.  so quaint.

this is outside the walls of the city of rothenburg.  it's kinda kewl that this still stands today.
